
They both come with same plant, white pepper & green pepper, The final color has to do with the ripeness. The white peppercorn is ripens fully with red vine before it is picked.

A black pepper is pick from peppercorn when still green and dried in the sun until it turn black. Black pepper has slightly hotter flavor & aroma. As with many spice, if you grind as you use it & it will a lot flavor than if it was ground in a factory months ago and sat on the shelves in the grocery.
